Jaxon George spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lassen is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 10-11 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Connor Kirack, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Peyton Garate was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, West Valley got the win against Yreka on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 16 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Manny Sleezer made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Kale Springer was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Degan Palos, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
The victory made it two in a row for West Valley and bumps their season record up to 21-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Lassen, their victory bumped their record up to 18-11.
Lassen might still be hurting after the 13-1 defeat they got from West Valley in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Grizzlies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
