Football Game Preview: Southern Alamance Patriots vs. Cummings Cavaliers + Official Tickets

Southern Alamance has gone a perfect 4-0 against Cummings recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Patriots will square off against the Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. Cummings took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Southern Alamance, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, Southern Alamance made easy work of Person and carried off a 42-18 victory. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Rockets are ranked 257th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sincere Thompson had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 172 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. He has become a key player for Southern Alamance: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-3 otherwise. Another back making a difference was Jacob Alexander, who rushed for 92 yards and one score on only ten carries.

Meanwhile, Cummings was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Western Alamance and fell 34-6.

Southern Alamance has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.3 points over those games. As for Cummings, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Everything came up roses for Southern Alamance against Cummings when the teams last played back in September of 2022, as the squad secured a 58-28 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Cavaliers' Johnniyus Sharpe, who threw for 231 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 42 yards. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Patriots to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
