The Luverne Tigers were the 50-41 winner over the Zion Chapel Rebels when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. Luverne took a 65-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Zion Chapel on Tuesday.
Zion Chapel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mason Stuart led the charge by scoring 15 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. Slade Grantham was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Luverne bumped their record down to 9-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Zion Chapel, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Luverne will face off against Goshen at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Goshen has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 12. As for Zion Chapel, they will head out on the road to square off against Pike Liberal Arts at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pike Liberal Arts will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 360th, while Zion Chapel is ranked 160th).
