The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in field goal percentage (80%). Chewy Thoat was another key player, going 5-for-11 to rack up 16 points and seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Lincoln Southeast smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Millard West played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Papillion-LaVista South, falling 72-51. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-21.
Like Millard West, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Trey Abara led the charge by going 6-for-11 en route to 15 points. Abara continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Carter LaBorde, who posted ten points and six boards.
Millard West has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points over those games. As for Lincoln Southeast, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Lincoln Southeast has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Millard West struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Lincoln Southeast didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Millard West in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 76-70 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Millard West's Jaidyn Gaius-Anyaegbu, who went 8-for-15 on his way to 20 points and three steals. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be easier for Lincoln Southeast to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
