The Esperanza Aztecs''s three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They walked away with a 34-27 victory over Canyon. The win was just what Esperanza needed coming off of a 41-20 defeat in their prior contest.
Esperanza's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aaron Forsgren, who rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown. Forsgren is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Lee, who gained 62 total yards and two touchdowns.
Canyon's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kyle Bayle, who picked up 213 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Corin Rynders was another key contributor, throwing for 292 yards and three touchdowns.
Esperanza now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Canyon, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Esperanza will take on El Dorado at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Canyon, they will be playing at home against El Modena at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. El Modena presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Canyon in California (El Modena is ranked 154th, while Canyon is ranked 549th).
