Given Westminster Schools of Augusta's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Aquinas is ranked 264th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Westminster Schools of Augusta got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaliyah Terry out in front who scored 21 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. The contest was Terry's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of India Williams, who scored 22 points along with 7 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Aquinas lost, one person who can't be blamed is Elle Morris. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Emma Kate Noegel, who scored 5 points along with 5 rebounds.
Westminster Schools of Augusta's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Aquinas, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westminster Schools of Augusta will square off against Curtis Baptist at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Aquinas, they will head out on the road to face off against Greene County at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
