Sudan is 0-8 against Floydada since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Sudan Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Floydada Whirlwinds at 6:15 p.m. Sudan will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1004th, while Floydada is ranked 404th).
Last Tuesday, Sudan was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 55-51 to New Deal.
Meanwhile, even though Hale Center scored an imposing 73 points on Friday, Floydada still came out on top. Floydada managed a 79-73 victory over Hale Center.
Floydada got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sergio Valadez out in front who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Hagen Hinsley, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds.
Sudan has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season. As for Floydada, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season.
Sudan was dealt a bruising 80-43 loss at the hands of Floydada when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Floydada's Braun Hobbs, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 21 rebounds.
