Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Ripley). They walked away with a 21-17 win over New Washington on Thursday. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Ellie Combs made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Combs was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, South Ripley got a massive performance out of Anna Block, who went 3-for-6 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Block has posted since back in April of 2024. Taylor Jordan was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases and four runs.
South Ripley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.2.
Southwestern's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for South Ripley, their record now sits at 8-11.
