The RHAM Raptors will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Ellington Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
RHAM gave up the first runs last Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Avon by a score of 13-9.
Meanwhile, Ellington put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They never let Windsor Locks get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory. The Knights have beaten the Raiders the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Raiders has come to flipping the script.
Tyla Gambacorta and Camryn Fisher made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Gambacorta pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Fisher didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit any time she's pitched this season. At bat, Gambacorta scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Fisher fired off two home runs and six RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. With that strong performance, Fisher is now averaging an impressive 3.5 RBI per game.
In other batting news, Mickyla Wong was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Madison Havener was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Ellington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .789. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Ellington pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 11.2 runs thus far. As for RHAM, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
RHAM skirted past Ellington 2-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2017. Will the Raptors repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
