The Benicia Panthers fought the good fight in their overtime game against the College Park Falcons on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Falcons 26-20. Benicia was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as College Park apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2019.
Benicia's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Myles Cooper, who picked up 22 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 85 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Daniel Valdez, who picked up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Benicia's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for College Park, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-6.
Benicia will take on Northgate at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for College Park, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Alhambra at 7:30 p.m.
