The Mullen Mustangs lost to the Rocky Mountain Lobos back in January of 2023, but the Mullen Mustangs didn't allow the Rocky Mountain Lobos the same satisfaction on Saturday. Mullen came out on top against Rocky Mountain by a score of 67-54. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mullen.
Mullen was led to victory by Makenzie Jones and Allison Schwertner. Jones scored 19 points along with six rebounds, while Schwertner scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ryker Thomas, who scored eight points.
Mullen's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-4. As for Rocky Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mullen will take on Overland at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Overland's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games. As for Rocky Mountain, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Monarch at 6:30 p.m. Monarch will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Rocky Mountain is ranked 28th).
