Despite the loss, Cheshire had strong showings from James O'Connor, who had nine digs and one assist, and Gordon Johns, who had six kills, four digs, and four blocks. Johns is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had five or more in each of the last four games he's played.
Meanwhile, Amity Regional came up short against Xavier on Wednesday, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Falcons: they've now lost six in a row.
While Amity Regional was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Xavier's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-22, 27-25.
Amity Regional's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Cheshire, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Cheshire hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 8.9 blocks per game. However, it's not like Amity Regional struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 blocks. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
