The Sage Creek Bobcats will face off against the Canyon Hills Rattlers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sage Creek will be strutting in after a victory while Canyon Hills will be coming in after a loss.
Sage Creek's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Mt. Carmel by a score of 3-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bobcats.
Not much got past Kailah Nadal, who gave up just six hits to keep Mt. Carmel off the board.
On the hitting side, Sage Creek saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lola Carson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another was Kaimana Coleman, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Canyon Hills didn't have quite enough to beat Southwest EC on Saturday and fell 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Rattlers have lost by just one run.
Natalye Debus spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Hal'E Martin was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Even though they lost, Canyon Hills hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive contests.
Sage Creek's win bumped their record up to 6-4-1. As for Canyon Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Canyon Hills' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sage Creek hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. It's a different story for Canyon Hills, though, as they've only averaged .232. Will they be able to contain Sage Creek's hitters?
Sage Creek couldn't quite get it done against Canyon Hills in their previous meeting back in February as they fell 4-1. Can Sage Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
