The Cox Mill Chargers suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 69-42 loss at the hands of Lake Norman. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cox Mill in their matchups with Lake Norman: they've now lost eight in a row.
Cox Mill's loss came despite strong showings from Madison Alexander and Makayla Richardson. Alexander scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Richardson scored six points along with six rebounds and three steals. Richardson hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games.
Lake Norman's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexis Shehan, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Addison Sirianni, who scored ten points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Cox Mill has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Lake Norman, their win was their 24th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cox Mill will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against A.L. Brown at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (A.L. Brown is ranked 200th, while Cox Mill is ranked 210th). As for Lake Norman, they will head out on the road to face off against West Cabarrus at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
