The South Adams Starfires's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 62-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mississinewa. South Adams found out winning isn't easy when you make six fewer threes than your opponent.
Despite the loss, South Adams still got an impressive performance from Macy Pries, who scored 26 points along with six assists and two steals. That was a full 51% of South Adams' points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Liz Gerber was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Mississinewa got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaci Crick out in front who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Wilson, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
South Adams' loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Mississinewa, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.
South Adams will face off against Adams Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Adams Central is ranked 269th, while South Adams is ranked 276th). Mississinewa will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Maconaquah at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully Maconaquah focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
