Spencerville is 8-0 against the Mustangs since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Spencerville's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
Spencerville put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. Everything went their way against New Knoxville as Spencerville made off with a 61-35 win. Given Spencerville's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Rangers are ranked 690th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Allen East unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 68-59 to Kenton. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Logan Helser, who scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Clum, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Spencerville is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Allen East, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
Spencerville didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Mustangs when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 66-61 victory. Does Spencerville have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
