Basketball Recap: Woodward Beats Stivers School for the Arts for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Woodward extended their winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Arielle Gee. The Woodward Bulldogs blew past the Stivers School for the Arts Tigers 62-39 on Sunday thanks in part to Gee, who went 11 for 16 on her way to 28 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. The game was her fifth in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Leigha Acoff, who went 8 of 17 on her way to 16 points along with six steals and five assists. Acoff is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Woodward's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Stivers School for the Arts, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-4 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodward won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Summit Country Day at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Woodward knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Summit Country Day likes a good challenge. As for Stivers School for the Arts, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Stivers School for the Arts Tigers duke it out with the Thurgood Marshall Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
