The Northmont Thunderbolts had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They slipped by Belmont 61-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Belmont had strong showings from Denzell Ogle, who scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds, and Demetrius Boyd, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Judah Baldwin was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
Northmont's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Belmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northmont will challenge Fairmont at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Belmont, they will head out on the road to face off against Thurgood Marshall at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
