BROOKSVILLE, Fla. -
Pasco (Dade City, Fla.) and
Hernando (Brooksville, Fla.) both received superb games from their defenses, but Pasco was able to break through the stalemate for a 7-0 win.
The Pirates scored on a rushing touchdown to notch the "W".
The lead that Pasco took on a
Malik Johns touchdown run with 11:00 left in the second quarter stood up for the duration of the game, as neither team managed to score in the second half.
The result came as a big surprise as the Leopards came in ranked No. 225 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Florida, while PHS was ranked No. 304.
The Dade City school had given up an average of 16.3 points prior to the contest. Hernando's zero points were well below its season average of 16.0 per game.
Hernando (2-5) goes up against Zephyrhills in a 5A District 6 game matchup next week, while Pasco (4-3) locks horns with Central also in a 5A District 6 game.
