Kyle Young looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jaxon Sparks and Eric Tratnyek did most of the damage at the plate: Sparks went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Tratnyek got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Sparks has posted since May 3rd. Another player making a difference was Zavier Edgar, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Carroll hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.
Carroll now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Fort Wayne Snider, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 21-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Fort Wayne Snider hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Carroll struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Fort Wayne Snider came out on top in a nail-biter against Carroll in their previous matchup on May 3rd, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
