Basketball Recap: Gracen Conner Key Part of a Team Effort in Cougars Win

Patrick County lost to Carroll County back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Patrick County Cougars strolled past the Carroll County Cavaliers with points to spare, taking the game 51-35.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Patrick County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gracen Conner, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards. Conner is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Lilly G Hazelwood was another key player, going 6 for 8 en route to 15 points and eight rebounds.

Carroll County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kenzie Young, who posted eight points and seven boards. Madison Coleman also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Patrick County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. As for Carroll County, they dropped their record down to 0-11 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home.

Patrick County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 42-28 defeat against James River on the 21st. As for Carroll County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-31 loss against Alleghany on the 18th.
