After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gallatin, The Billings West Golden Bears were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 49-17 victory over Belgrade. The result was nothing new for Billings West, who have now won four matchups by 32 points or more so far this season.
Drew McDowell was the offensive standout of the match as he threw for 209 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Claunch, who gained 129 total yards.
Belgrade's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hudsen Rask, who threw for 187 yards and a touchdown.
Billings West's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.0 points per game. As for Belgrade, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Billings West will look to defend their home field on Friday against Big Sky at 6:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Montana (Big Sky is ranked 47th, while Billings West is ranked 26th). Belgrade does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
