The Douglas Tigers pushed their score all the way to 69 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of McQueen by a score of 72-69. Douglas was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as McQueen apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Caden Thacker and Jett Lehmann certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Thacker scored 27 points along with 3 steals, while Lehmann scored 18 points along with 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Torres, who scored 5 points along with 3 steals.
Even though they lost, Douglas were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McQueen only pulled down nine.
McQueen found their leader in underclassman Kade Snyder, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 13 rebounds. Alex Hancock was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
Douglas' loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for McQueen, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Douglas will take on Jesuit at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Jesuit will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 185th in California, while Douglas is ranked 48th in Nevada). As for McQueen, they will take on Washington Union at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
