The Wilson Prep Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Weldon Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wilson Prep will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
Two weeks ago, Wilson Prep didn't have too much trouble with Southeast Halifax at home as they won 24-8.
Wilson Prep found their leader in underclassman Travon Usher, who rushed for 120 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Christian Richardson and his 85 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Wilson Prep's win.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Weldon had no problem doing just that on Friday. They snuck past Gates County with a 20-14 victory. The victory was just what Weldon needed coming off of a 20-0 loss in their prior match.
Weldon can attribute much of their success to Ky'Saan Bevier, who picked up 82 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Sylvester Witherspoon, who threw for 89 yards and two touchdowns.
Wilson Prep has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 9-1 record. As for Weldon, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-4.
Everything went Wilson Prep's way against Weldon in their previous matchup back in September as Wilson Prep made off with a 24-0 victory. Does Wilson Prep have another victory up their sleeve, or will Weldon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
