The Porter Ridge Pirates had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They came out on top against Cuthbertson by a score of 65-55. Given Porter Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Cuthbertson is ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ashanti Taylor was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 11 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Anna Scaldara was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Cuthbertson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Christian Mundy, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds. Mundy continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Amayah Rogers, who scored 13 points.
Cuthbertson struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Porter Ridge pulled down 15 offensive rebounds.
