The Tift County Blue Devils lost against the Westover Patriots back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Tift County took a 40-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westover. Tift County has not had much luck with Westover recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Tift County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Corey Howard, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was JJ Lamar, who scored five points.
Leading Westover to victory were Anthony Milton and Bryson Carter. Milton scored eight points along with four steals, while Carter scored 12 points. Traveion Wheeler was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds.
Tift County dropped their record down to 9-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Westover, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 11-7.
Tift County will be playing at home against Thomas County Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Thomas County Central is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Westover on the road again on Friday and play against Bainbridge at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Bainbridge and Westover are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
