The Houston Academy Raiders entered their tilt with the Chipley Tigers with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Houston Academy managed a 75-70 win over Chipley on Monday. Given Houston Academy's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 102nd in Alabama, while Chipley is ranked 371st in Florida), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Defeat or not, Chipley got some senior leadership from Albert McKinnie who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds and Kyler Bryant who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. The game was Bryant's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malik Henderson, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Houston Academy pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 19.44 points. As for Chipley, they have fallen quite a ways from their 21-7 record last season and are now at 1-4.
Houston Academy will stay at home for another game and welcome Long at 5:30 p.m. on December 21st. Chipley won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Blountstown at 3:30 p.m. on December 19th.
