On Saturday, the Scottsbluff Bearcats faced the Sidney Red Raiders in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Scottsbluff came out on top against Sidney by a score of 67-60. Winning may never get old, but Scottsbluff sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Scottsbluff was led to victory by Rylee Meininger and Nate Kelley. Meininger scored 23 points along with two blocks, while Kelley dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 assists. That's the first time this season that Meininger posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Caleb Swisher, who scored ten points.
Scottsbluff has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Sidney, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-2.
Scottsbluff will look to defend their home court on Friday against Alliance at 7:00 p.m. As for Sidney, Sidney and Gering will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Gering will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Sidney is ranked 21st).
