With a playoff game on the line, the Winter Haven Blue Devils rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They blew past the Cougars 72-34 on the road. Winter Haven has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 23 points or more this season.
Winter Haven found their leader in underclassman Quin?nya Gray de sanders, who scored 24 points along with eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gray de sanders has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Serenity Hardy, who scored 19 points along with five steals.
Despite the defeat, Durant had strong showings from Icyss Lopez, who scored 15 points along with three steals, and Elani-hazel Randall, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds. Lopez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.
The victory (which was Winter Haven's sixth in a row) raised their record to 19-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Durant, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12.
Winter Haven will face off against Haines City at TBD on Friday. Winter Haven has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 340 points over their last five matchups. Durant does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
