Meanwhile, Columbia hadn't done well against Garden Spot recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Columbia blew past Garden Spot 9-1. The Crimson Tide's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Peyton Gilbert was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Chase Marley was a standout: he scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Drew Paules, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Columbia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Garden Spot only managed six hits.
