Basketball Recap: Stansbury Find Success

There's no place like home for Stansbury, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They slipped by the Murray Spartans 43-42 on Tuesday. For the Stallions, this counts as revenge for the 55-46 victory the Spartans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Stansbury to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sadie Kennedy, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 10 points and six rebounds. Those ten points gave Kennedy a new career-high. Makenzie Meldrum was another key player, putting up seven points.

Brooklyn Richter and Grace Taeoalii certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Richter went 5 of 12 on her way to 13 points and eight rebounds, while Taeoalii posted six points along with nine boards and five assists. Richter has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last eight times she's played.

Stansbury pushed their record up to 6-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.25 points across that stretch. As for Murray, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Stansbury will venture away from home to face off against Park City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Murray, they will host Tooele at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tooele will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Murray surely won't give up without a fight.
