Basketball Recap: Campion Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Campion Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They blew past the Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles 32-12. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Cougars just coasted through the last quarter.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Campion Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Liz Beth Lopez, who posted eight points and five steals. Lopez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last three games she's played. Damaris Lopez was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Campion Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Campion Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ascent Classical Academy Northern Colorado at 4:00 p.m. on January 13, 2025. After both having extra time off, Rocky Mountain Lutheran and Denver Jewish Day will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
