Softball Recap: Boardman Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

While Boardman put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Harding. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Raiders. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Addie Kowacich made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Addie Rudge was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Ward, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Boardman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harding only posted an OBP of .211.

Boardman pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Harding, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boardman will host Howland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Harding, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Brookfield at 5:00 p.m. The Raiders are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
