For the first time this season, Wills Point will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. After each having a week off, they and the Ford Panthers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Wills Point blew past Life Waxahachie, posting a 35-7 victory. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.
A big part of Wills Point's victory came down to the chemistry between TANNER MADDOX and his top target BRIAN MARTINEZ. MADDOX rushed for 85 yards and one score on only 11 carries while MARTINEZ rushed for 88 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Wills Point proved: they limited Life Waxahachie to a paltry 3.4 yards per carry. The team can thank JAX KING for the heroic effort on defense: he. Wills Point didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.9.
Wills Point didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of GRAYSON MIXON and MARTINEZ. MARTINEZ got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Panthers last Friday. Ford simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North Lamar 63-18. The game marked Ford's most dominant win of the season so far.

Those 165 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Williams. Payton Wallen was another key player, rushing for 45 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Thursday's contest might be decided on the ground. Wills Point has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 170.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Ford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 395.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Wills Point suffered a grim 28-5 defeat to Ford in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Williams, who rushed for 79 yards and a pair of TDs. Now that the Tigers know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
