Mt. Vernon and Hayes are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Yellowjackets are taking a road trip to face off against the Pacers at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mt. Vernon comes in on 13 and Hayes on 21.

On Saturday, Mt. Vernon beat Marysville 8-3.

Brooke Dovenbarger was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Layla Joyner, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Hayes gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over Upper Arlington. The result was nothing new for the Pacers, who have now won 15 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Madison Curran, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Laurel Day was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Hayes always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .516 or higher in four consecutive games.

Hayes' victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Mt. Vernon, their record now sits at 19-2.

Mt. Vernon couldn't quite finish off Hayes in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
