The Au Gres-Sims Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 69-18 defeat at the hands of Hillman. While losing is never fun, Au Gres-Sims can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 736th, while the Tigers are ranked 253rd).
Hillman was led to victory by Blake Kennard and Trenton Taratuta. Kennard dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Taratuta shot 4-for-10 from beyond the arc and almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds. Taratuta hasn't dropped below 17 points for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Aedan Tucker, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Au Gres-Sims has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Hillman, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 15-2.
Au Gres-Sims will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Eagles at 7:15 p.m. As for Hillman, they will head out on the road to square off against the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Atlanta: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while the Tigers have snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
