2A Evergreen recap October 1, 2013
W.F. West extended the longest winning streak in 2A Evergreen this week by beating Columbia River, 36-13. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
W.F. West made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,461 from 2,546. The improvement was largely due to a 36-13 victory over the Chieftains last week.
Tumwater's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jayden Croft threw for 78 yards and Gabe Gleizes had 61 yards receiving. On the ground Tyrus Snow contributed 180 yards. Christian Cummings helped Tumwater's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 17 yards.
Snow was a passing and rushing force as the Thunderbirds beat Capital. Snow's key target this week was Gleizes, who caught 4 passes for 61 yards.
Snow was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 180 yards on 11 carries as Tumwater defeated the Cougars. Cummings also contributed to the rushing game with 108 yards on the ground.
Tumwater's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Thunderbirds feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Croft has thrown for 374 yards and 3 touchdowns this season, while Easton Trakel has 6 catches for 133 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place W.F. West takes on second place Tumwater.
