After only seven points in their last match, Raymondville made sure to put some points up on the board against Grulla on Thursday. Raymondville enjoyed a cozy 31-13 win over Grulla.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Raymondville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chris Gonzalez, who picked up 100 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 46 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Gonzalez's longest reception was for an incredible 89 yards. Another player making a difference was Luis De La Paz, who threw for 134 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes.
Meanwhile, Bishop's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Port Isabel at home and fell 38-9.
Raymondville's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Bishop, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6.
Raymondville lost to Bishop at home by a decisive 30-12 margin in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Raymondville, Emmanuel Pelagio (who threw for 177 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
