Basketball Game Preview: New Covenant Christian Flames vs. York Country Day

The New Covenant Christian Flames will head out on the road to take on York Country Day at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Tuesday, New Covenant Christian needed a bit of extra time to put away Mount Calvary Christian. They secured a 60-56 W over the Chargers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Flames.

New Covenant Christian found their leader in sophomore Grayden Summers, who posted 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Summers has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Talan VanderPloog, who put up 12 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, York Country Day put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by East Juniata to the tune of 74-29. York Country Day has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 28 points or more this season.

New Covenant Christian better focus on containing Isaiah White and Ryan Maus as the pair were huge in York Country Day's win. White had 17 points, while Maus posted 17 points. Another player making a difference was Briason Kennedy, who earned eight points.

York Country Day pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 48 points. As for New Covenant Christian, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

New Covenant Christian came up short against York Country Day in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 59-49. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Maus, who put up 18 points and seven steals.
