Baseball Recap: Montezuma-Cortez Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Montezuma-Cortez came tearing into Saturday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the North Fork Miners. Considering the Panthers have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Cory Carver was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Samson Lein, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Montezuma-Cortez always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Fork only posted an OBP of .222.

Montezuma-Cortez pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for North Fork, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Coming up, Montezuma-Cortez will head out to challenge Centauri at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Fork, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Roaring Fork at 3:00 p.m.
