Franklin Classical School is 1-8 against Mt. Pleasant since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Franklin Classical School Knights' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Mt. Pleasant Tigers at 8:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, Franklin Classical School beat Cornersville 64-51. Given Franklin Classical School's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Cornersville is ranked 395th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Mt. Pleasant had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They strolled past Jackson Christian with points to spare, taking the game 62-48.
Mt. Pleasant's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jakyri McClure, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Nick Brown, who scored 17 points.
Franklin Classical School's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Mt. Pleasant, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3.
Franklin Classical School lost to Mt. Pleasant on the road by a decisive 63-47 margin when the teams last played back in February. Can Franklin Classical School avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
