Florida School for the Deaf & Blind was dealt a 73-40 loss at the hands of St. Johns Country Day on Tuesday. Florida School for the Deaf & Blind has not had much luck with St. Johns Country Day recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
St. Johns Country Day was led to victory by Mary Kate Kent and Kendall Proffitt. Kent went 6 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 8 assists, while Proffitt scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Kent is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 18 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Mejias, who scored 11 points along with five assists.
Florida School for the Deaf & Blind's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for St. Johns Country Day, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-4.
Florida School for the Deaf & Blind won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Taylor at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Taylor comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for St. Johns Country Day, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Duval Charter at 6:00 p.m. Duval Charter is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
