The Bartram Trail Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 13th straight loss. They fell just short of Beachside by a score of 42-40. While losing is never fun, Bartram Trail can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while Beachside is ranked 48th).
Bartram Trail's loss came despite strong showings from Esabella Brenneman and Alyssa Donohue. Brenneman scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and six steals, while Donohue scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Donohue has scored all season.
Beachside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kendall Kane, who scored 15 points. Morgan Cremen was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six steals.
Bartram Trail bumped their record down to 2-13 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Beachside, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.
Bartram Trail will head out on the road to take on Nease at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Nease focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday. As for Beachside, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Sandalwood at 7:30 p.m. Sandalwood has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 12.
