The DeLand-Weldon Eagles will be playing at home against the Lowpoint-Washburn Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. DeLand-Weldon is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Monday, DeLand-Weldon took a serious blow against Fisher, falling 62-12. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for DeLand-Weldon in their matchups with Fisher: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Lowpoint-Washburn came up short against Stark County on Friday and fell 59-48. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Lowpoint-Washburn came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Stark County is ranked 335th).
Baylor Steffen put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 25 points. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now stole two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kody Knecht, who scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 steals.
The losses dropped DeLand-Weldon to 0-4 and Fisher to 2-5.
DeLand-Weldon was taken down by Lowpoint-Washburn 63-18 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can DeLand-Weldon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
