The West Memphis Blue Devils will take on the Parkview Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. West Memphis has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
West Memphis is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Tuesday. They lost 20-7 to Valley View.
Ti'Meria Powell was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with five stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Halford, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Parkview). They blew past ESTEM 18-3 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Mets: they've now won five in a row.
Ma'Kylah Palmer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Ma'Kyyah Palmer was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Lauryn Foster was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one triple.
Parkview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Parkview's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for West Memphis, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. West Memphis has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Parkview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
West Memphis might still be hurting after the 19-3 loss they got from Parkview in their previous matchup back in March of 2025. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
