The Center Grove Trojans are on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Martinsville Artesians at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully Center Grove is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Martinsville in Indiana (Center Grove is ranked sixth, while Martinsville is ranked 288th).
Last Thursday, Center Grove blew past Bloomington South, posting a 55-24 win on the road.
Center Grove's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rachel Wirts, who scored 15 points. The game was Wirts' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Aubrie Booker, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Martinsville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 50-36 to Whiteland. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Martinsville in their matchups with Whiteland: they've now lost three in a row.
Their wins bumped Center Grove to 10-1 and Bloomington South to 5-4.
Everything came up roses for Center Grove against Martinsville in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 66-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Center Grove since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
