Baseball Recap: Edgewood Academy Wins Going Away Against Abbeville Christian Academy

Edgewood Academy barely beat Abbeville Christian Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went the Edgewood Academy Wildcats' way against the Abbeville Christian Academy Generals on Tuesday as the Edgewood Academy Wildcats made off with a 9-1 win. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Generals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Ethan Evans was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Evans is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Landon Smith was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Five bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Cooper Freeman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Edgewood Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Abbeville Christian Academy only managed five hits.

Edgewood Academy's record now sits at 9-2. As for Abbeville Christian Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7.
