Wharton is 8-2 against Bellville since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Wharton Tigers will be playing at home against the Bellville Brahmas at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Wharton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Wharton didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Sealy, but they still walked away with a 55-49 victory. The victory was just what Wharton needed coming off of a 78-48 defeat in their prior contest.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wharton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Angell Gaona, Jr., who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gaona, Jr. has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacoryan Dickerson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Bellville suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Royal at home and fell 70-32. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bellville has scored all season.
Wharton's win bumped their record up to 9-15. As for Bellville, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
Wharton came up short against Bellville when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 67-56. Can Wharton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
