Six Rivers recap Oct. 3, 2012
Shullsburg's Brett Knautz recorded the longest rushing play in Six Rivers this season in his game against River Ridge last week. Knautz's team topped the Timberwolves as he sprinted for 90 yards on the play and finished with 93 in all.
Potosi extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Benton/Scales Mound IL, 55-0. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Potosi's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tim Fritz threw for 168 and four touchdowns and Chase Kruser had 56 yards receiving. On the ground Jase Udelhofen chipped in 116 yards. Logan Udelhofen helped Potosi's passing attack out by catching two balls for 45 yards.
5-foot-9 quarterback Fritz of Mark Siegert's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 915. He has also thrown 11 touchdowns. On the ground, Shullsburg's Nathan Houtakker has rushed for 722 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Kyle Walters. The Black Hawk star has 15 catches for 301 yards.
A big matchup in Six Rivers this week will be when the Chieftains take on River Ridge. At the moment, Potosi is in first, while Wade Winkers's team is in seventh.
Pecatonica/Argyle moved up to 124 from 167 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 21-14 win over Highland helped the Vikings improve their standing.
