The Neumann Celtics lost to the Indian Hill Braves back in December of 2019, but the Neumann Celtics didn't allow the Indian Hill Braves the same satisfaction on Friday. Neumann walked away with a 61-54 win over Indian Hill. Given Neumann's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 30th in Florida, while Indian Hill is ranked 283rd in Ohio), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Neumann's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sophia McCartney led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and 18 rebounds. The match was McCartney's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Mylee Van de wouw was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds.
Neumann pushed their record up to 12-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Indian Hill, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Neumann and Countryside will face off at 4:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Countryside will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Indian Hill, they will head out on the road to face off against Taylor at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
